Enprise Waikato’s new consultant Tanya Fulton is a chartered accountant with ten years' Exo experience, including working for Exonet in Australia.
Tanya Fulton began her career as a corporate accountant in Sydney. There she worked for companies such as Young & Rubicam, and a raft of small and medium sized businesses. Her move into Exo consultancy came when she was hired by Exonet in Sydney to deliver user support.
Tanya has been an Exo consultant in New Zealand for the last ten years, installing the software across a variety of industries as well as supporting and training end users. She worked in Hamilton for then-MYOB partner Houston Technology Group before becoming self employed.
Tanya says her role at Enprise Waikato is to ‘make things easier for the customer’.
“Often it’s possible to make a small change - such as ticking a box inside Exo - to achieve a substantial gain,” she says.
“Reducing data entry or seeing business results more clearly can sometimes be that simple. The biggest catalyst for change is to think about what you want. I invite customers to think of a way their system could make their life or their business run smoother, and send me a one-line question. Sometimes people think something very simple will cost a lot of dollars. Ask and you may be pleasantly surprised.”
Other examples of easy, instant gains include the ability to email forms such as invoices and payments; and copying from Excel for pasting into General Ledger journals and many other areas in Exo.
“If you know what the end result needs to be, I can see how to get there,” Tanya Fulton says.
“Understanding what customers want is critical; everything I do is informed by this. To me, good consulting is saying ‘if you want this result, this is what you need to do’. If a customer wishes to do something a particular way, then it’s knowing what will result from doing it that way. If you can explain the options, the customer can make good choices.”
