Hidden cost and time for Ostendo/MYOB Premier

Two years after implementing a combination of Ostendo and MYOB Premier, Zylux asked Enprise to replace both products with MYOB Exo – and says it’s ‘very happy’ with the change.

Zylux is a 100% Australian owned and run company that provides audio, visual, safety and security products for automobiles, caravans and a wide range of adventure activities. Zylux despatches its product range – which includes backing cameras, TVs, satellite antennas, battery chargers and much more – to customers throughout Australia and New Zealand. It despatches all products from its 9000 square foot Melbourne warehouse.

“We originally opted for Ostendo and Premier because the price difference between that and Exo was quite large,” says Zylux Administration Accounts Manager Georgie Dellevergini.

“It turned out that transferring payments from Ostendo to Premier was very labour intensive. Say we make 100 sales and receive 20 payments. With Ostendo, first you need to create an accounting link, then go in and do an export file pick up. Only then can you do the actual transfer. It can take up to 5-10 minutes for each transaction depending on transaction size. On top of that you need to leave the machine sitting idle while each transaction is processing, you can’t use the computer as it may affect the transaction.”

With many sales transactions to process every day, the minutes turned to hours.

“The time we now save with Exo is huge – a couple of hours a day at least,” Georgie Dellevergini says.

“We also found that running updates for Ostendo could be tricky to the point that we required external IT support. These things – plus the need to maintain two sets of files – made it too hard.”

Georgie says Enprise and Exo have provided a seamless transition for Zylux.

“Exo is far more user friendly and we find it very easy to integrate other applications. We’re going live soon with MYOB Exo Business CRM. We will also integrate Exo with our new e-commerce solution, which will save us a lot of time as we won’t have to double enter information. We’re just deciding what data will be brought over into Exo but it will definitely include part numbers and qualities so that web sales update our inventory automatically.”

Once its CRM and web shop projects are complete, Zylux will move on to implementing a new warehousing system with Enprise and its partner The RIC Group. A further project will improve management of the company’s service department.

“We’re taking a modular approach to all these projects, getting each one bolted down and working well before we move on to the next,” says Georgie Dellevergini.

The transition to Exo has been ‘fast and organised’.

“Integration was quick. An Enprise consultant spent a few days on site, which meant we got rapid and thorough tweaks to further fit the system to our needs – she did good work and was extremely organised. Now that we’re live we just call or email that same consultant if we have a problem and she will forward to the helpdesk if necessary. She is very fast and efficient. I can’t speak highly enough of Enprise for our Exo transition and the support we’ve received - I’ve been very, very happy.  Enprise is quick to help you out and any questions or issues get fast turnaround.”

Zylux now places sales orders in Symphony, which talks seamlessly to EXO.

“The Enprise consultant who did our Symphony training was onsite at go-live. Processing sales orders is a lot faster and easier with Symphony. As soon as you hit ‘save’ the programmes cross-share. You don’t have to worry about the transfer of information,” Georgie Dellevergini says.

Zylux finds Exo a lot simpler than using Premier and Ostendo.

“EXO is just more user friendly,” says Georgie Dellevergini.

“If anyone was looking to go down the Exo path I would recommend Enprise. They understood the business and accounting issues. They provided a full service from auditing, blueprinting, scoping, integration, training and support. Coming onsite for a few days prior to go-live was fantastic. It’s a big step for people to make the decision. We’re happy with the decision we’ve made.”
