Enprise teamed up with MYOB to attend the biggest agribusiness event in the Southern Hemisphere – Fieldays – and got asked repeatedly about the same three business worries.
Inventory control took the top slot, says Enprise’s Northern Sales Manager, Grant Harwood.
“How to get inventory balances correct was the biggest concern,” he says. “Which makes sense because if that’s out of control, your P & L will be wrong.”
The second most popular subject was project costing and control. Agribusiness suppliers do a lot of projects on farms, from building shelters for herds, to shelter belt trimming and vehicle maintenance. “Suppliers wanted to get a better handle on their own costs and time, and know the profitability of each job they do,” Grant Harwood says.
Third was financial control. “I fielded so many questions about how to control costs and analyse costs. Many people were still making their own spreadsheets – but say that it’s usually out of date by the time they get the data to create the spreadsheet with. They asked about how to automate good fast Key Performance Indicator reporting,” he says.
